Obituary of Marcel DAOUST

Marcel, beloved husband of Joan of Calgary, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the age of 80 years.
Marcel was a member of a large French-Canadian family with a military history. He joined the Van Doos, Royal 22nd Regiment, then came to Calgary as a member of the Queens Own Rifles in the early 1950s. He met Joan at the Calgary Correctional Centre where both were employed. They married in 1978. His life was surrounded by many friends. Marcel enjoyed his travels throughout the world and he remained in contact with many people he met on his travels. Although Joan and Marcel did not have any children, their life revolved around each other.
Marcel is survived by his three siblings, Rejeanne Canadien, Jean-Guy DAoust, Francoise Villeneuve, all of Ottawa, Ont. He was predeceased by Roland, Lawrence and Claude DAoust and Lorrette Hitsman.
A Memorial Service was held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queens Park Cemetery) on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Internment to follow in Sarsfield, ON. at a later date. Forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
