Our mom and Baba has shared the best of herself, a listening ear and a love of family for the past 78 years. Vi was born in Bobly, Poland on September 18, 1933 and immigrated to Canada in 1937 with her parents and siblings. She began her education at Floating Stone School in Boyne Lake, Alberta and completed her training at an Edmonton college. Don and Vi married in May, 1961. They settled in Calgary to raise their family. Vi will be remembered as a strong, caring and remarkable woman. Vi gave of her time volunteering for various organizations over the years. Since retiring from a second career after family, Vi enjoyed spending time camping in the foothills, knitting hats for charity, spending time with the ladies on bus trips, walking in the neighbourhood and most especially spending time with her grandchildren. Vi passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on January 8, 2012. Vi will be always remembered by her children, Donna, Jim (Michele), Janice (Mitch) and her two beautiful granddaughters Madalyn and Makenna. She will also be dearly missed by her brother Alec, several relatives, dear friends and special neighbours.
