Obituary of Erich STENZEL
Please share a memory of Erich to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With much sadness in our hearts we announce the passing of our loving father and husband, Erich Herbert Stenzel on February 27, 2012.
Erich was born in Mittendorf in the Polish Corridor (West Prussia). After battling a long illness, Erich passed away at the long-term care facility of the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, having spent the day with his son Udo by his side.
Erich endured war and POW camps. He found happiness when he married Erna Anders and they had two sons, Manfred and Udo Herbert. Sadly Erna passed away at the age of 49 years. Erich remarried Erika Bauer and they spent his remaining 37 years together. They lived in Beaver Mines, AB, for 25 years surrounded by nature, in a home he dearly loved. He was a mason who worked in the refractory masonry industry from the 1960s until his retirement. Erich took great pride in his work and enjoyed working with his colleagues.
Erich is survived by his loving sons Udo Herbert (Elizabeth) and Manfred (Marie); brother Bruno (Irmgard); wife Erika Bauer; sons Peter (Cathy), Harold (Kathy); grandchildren: Jason, Veronica, Justin, Jesse, Russell, Danny, Alexandra, Remmy, Brandy, Ryley, Jadey, Brody and great-grandchildren Hunter and Chela. Erich is predeceased by his father Richard; mother Ida; brothers Kurt, Paul and Willie; sister Herta, and first wife Erna Anders.
A private Family Memorial will be held at a later date.
