Obituary of Ronald VENIEZ

Ronald Veniez of Calgary, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the age of 80 years.
Ron was born in Montreal, Quebec, to Walter and Margaret Veniez. He married Dorothy in 1957 and dedicated his life to raising their two children. Ron worked in Montreal and Mississauga with Domtar Sifto Salt Division before retiring after 45 years of service. After Rons retirement, they relocated to Calgary in 1996 to Horizon Village in Varsity. Ron loved being a part of all the activities in this community and was well known for always placing others needs before his own. He was involved with the Presbyterian Church his whole life, serving as an Elder for many years. Ron volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the Cochrane Humane Society, the Calgary Music Makers as well as delivered items to the food bank. Ron had a passion for singing and dancing. Ron and Dorothy enjoyed their travels to England, Scotland, and Ireland, Canada and the U.S. Rons greatest love was his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He easily made friends and enjoyed the past few years at Monterey Place where he was truly loved.
Ron is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Graham Hargreaves of Calgary; his son, Ian Veniez of Waterloo, Ont.; grandchildren: Amy and Andrew Hargreaves, and Matthew Veniez. Ron is also survived by his brother, Dave Veniez and sister, Gladys Mercier both of Montreal,QC.
He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 2009, his parents and sister, Irene Gilbert.
A Celebration of Rons life was held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queens Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Please Forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
