Obituary of William STRACHAN

Bill passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the age of 81 years. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland and married Margaret Cullen in 1954. Bill served in the British Army during WWII, and then became a police officer with the Glasgow Police Force from 1950 to 1966. Bill and his family then immigrated to Canada where he enjoyed a second successful career as an Alberta District Manager for the Co-Operators from 1966 until his retirement. He then enjoyed life with his wife, family and friends, travelling, golfing, and many great adventures painting. A dedicated family man, Bill was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret in 2004. He is survived by son Steve (Shannon), and daughter Norma Jean (Derek); granddaughters Zoe and Vanessa; and a multitude of close church family and friends. Bill will also be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, and dear friends across Canada and in Scotland. Bill met many life challenges with courage, passion, relentless determination, and incredible humour. He will be fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched. A Celebration of Bill’s Wonderful Life was held at Christ Moravian Church on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
