Bill McLaggan beloved husband of Sheila of Calgary, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at the age of 87 years. Bill was born and raised in Calgary. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta in 1947. Bill worked for many years with Imperial Oil Ltd, retiring in 1985. Bill and Sheila enjoyed travelling, especially the Maritimes. Most of all, his family was of utmost importance, and Bill loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Sheila of 61 years; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Wayne Atkinson; sons and daughters-in-law, Gavin and Marlene and John and Jane McLaggan; grandchildren, Ian, Haley (Michael), Colin (Stephanie), Dale (fiancée, Shelby), Tori, Scott and Kelsey; great-granddaughter, Kaybree Atkinson; sister, Milley Wetter; as well his niece, Janet; nephew, Graham (Silvana) and numerous friends. He was predeceased by parents, Walter and Etta, and brother-in-law, Ray Wetter. A Celebration of Bill’s Life was held at St. Andrew’s United Church (924 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at a later date in Burnsland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the William McLaggan Civil Engineering Student Club Office at the University of Alberta, C/O External Relations, Faculty of Engineering, University of Alberta, E6-050 ETLC, Edmonton, AB T6G 2V4, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
