Obituary of Margaret WALKER

WALKER – Margaret Jean Cleland (nee Todd) Margaret Walker, beloved wife of John Walker, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary. Margaret was born in Kirkintilloch, Scotland, where she resided until her marriage and subsequent emigration to Canada with her husband in 1968. After a short stay in Edmonton, Alberta, where she made some long lasting friendships, the family moved to Calgary, which has been home ever since. In addition to her husband, Margaret leaves behind her much loved son, Douglas (Lisa); daughter Shona (Brad) and the lights of her life, her three granddaughters, Tegan and Gillian Walker and Hannah Duce. She also leaves behind her brother Iain Todd in Scotland; as well as her cousins Jenny Russell in Vancouver, BC and Pat Hurst in England. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Nina Todd. Margaret suffered a major heart attack doing what she loved most, running her pet dog Amber on a canine agility course. She was a volunteer puppy foster parent and puppy obedience trainer with the Calgary Humane Society for several years and most recently had been teaching agility classes with Paw Z Tracks Dog Training. The other delight of her life was building sandcastles with her children and grandchildren when on vacation at Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island.
