Obituary of Kathleen HAGAN

Kathy peacefully concluded her journey with A.L.S. surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 21st, 2012. Kathy was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on September 8th, 1945 and moved with the family to Calgary in 1956. Kathy left Viscount Bennett High School after grade 11 to attend hairdressing college at Marvell in 1962. Kathy loved hair dressing and had scores of happy customers throughout her career until she retired in 2008. One of the things Kathy enjoyed the most about her chosen profession was the social network it provided. She loved to visit while she beautified, and performed both tasks with great enthusiasm and success! Kathy was an incredibly kind, giving person and always put the needs of others ahead of her own. A.L.S. robbed Kathy of her mobility but it could not damage her spirit or sense of humour. Kathy was much loved and will be forever missed by her children Tracey (Joe) Aubin, Tyler (Farrah) Hagan; her brother Kevin (Candace) George; grandchildren Sam, Ben and Tom Aubin, Donovan, Marisa and Katlynn Hagan; nieces and nephews Dawn, Stephanie, Billie, Jamie, Leonard, Roland, Kathy, Jodie, Justin, Ryan and Jenn, and special friend Wes. Kathy was predeceased by her mother Kay in 1987, her father Bill in 2002, her husband Hugh in 2007 and her brother Bill in 2011. At Kathy’s request there will be no funeral. However family and friends that wish to show their support are strongly encouraged to join “Hagan’s Heroes” at this year’s Betty’s Run for ALS to be held at North Glenmore Park on Sunday, June 10th at 9:00 AM.
