Frank Keith Downsbrough was born in Manchester, England on September 4, 1925. Keith soon moved with his mother Agnes, father Ernest and older sister, Kathleen to Queensbury, a bracing mountain top village in West Yorkshire. Keith’s father, Ernest died when Keith was very young, and his mother, Kathleen and Keith bravely carried on. Keith was an all rounder at school, academic and athletic. He attended Bradford Grammar School where he gained a scholarship to go to Cambridge University. Keith excelled in his studies and was also part of a rowing team. He then went on to work at Battersea Power Station in London where he did some important research into clean burning fuels. After this, Keith trained to be a doctor at Leeds University and later became a Consultant Radiologist. Keith married Elizabeth in 1958 and they had two children, Julie Rose (born in 1961) and Miles (born in 1965). The family decided to take a bold step in 1967 and emigrate to Canada. After living in St. Catherines, Ontario, Medicine Hat and Drumheller, Keith eventually made Calgary his permanent home. Keith has many passions and interests such as reading, writing, history, geography, science, space exploration, photography and cinematography. He also loved to travel and visited many exotic places around the world. Keith lived life to the full and is lovingly remembered by all of his family and friends.
