Obituary of Sant SINGH

S. Sant Singh, son of the late S. Mal Singh and Sdn. Kishno Kaur of Dakha, India, passed away in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the age of 84 years. After finishing high school in Dakha, he went on to receive his F.Sc from Arya College Ludhiana. Sant was captain of his field hockey team and a great athlete. He earned many medals and trophies. In 1945, he was married to Sdn. Harbans Kaur. Sant was a very honest and hardworking person. He began his own business in the sales and servicing of clocks and watches; a business which to this day thrives in Adda Dakha, India. In Calgary, he worked in the same field of business. Sant had a good command of the English language, and used his skills to help other senior Indian immigrants with problems requiring English. He was a respected member of the Indo-Canadian community. He was always willing to help anyone in need and donated to various charities. Sant was a caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Sdn. Harbans Kaur; five children; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He will be missed dearly. Following the Memorial Service, relatives and friends may join the family in prayer at the Sikh Society Calgary Gurdwara 719 – 81st Street South West
