Obituary of Geraldine POST

Geraldine Post of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, after a lengthy battle with dementia. Gerrie was born in Lethbridge, AB on June 14, 1924, the only daughter of Nicholas and Mary Zuback. She moved to Calgary in 1950 and married Calvin Post in 1952. Gerrie and Cal lived in Calgary, Regina and Lethbridge before settling in Calgary in 1956. A long time resident of Wildwood, Gerrie contributed to the community for many years. She was also a founding member of St. Michael Catholic Community Church from its inception, and a charter member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 40 years. Gerrie was an honest, hardworking and straight forward individual, who lived her life with great courage, great inner strength, great faith, and an unconditional love for her family. These qualities touched all of those who knew her. Gerrie is survived by her children Carla Ockley (Rob Alton) of Georgetown, ON, Sheldon, Jonathan and Joanna all of Calgary; brothers John (Verona) Zuback of Thunder Bay, ON, Reverend Father Richard Zuback of Lethbridge, and Raymond Zuback of Medicine Hat; grandson Elijah (Esther) Ockley of Milton, ON; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerrie was predeceased by her mother Mary Zuback in 1977, her father Nicholas in 1986 and her husband Calvin in 1984. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Community Church (800 – 85 Street S.W.) on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
