Obituary of Ross FERSCHWEILER

Please share a memory of Ross to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With very heavy hearts the family of Ross Ferschweiler bids farewell to an extraordinary father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He will be especially missed by his son, Chet (Christina) and daughter, Loni, to whom he was a wise, loving, generous, and proud mentor; and his granddaughter, Mattea, who was the apple of his eye. Also mourning his loss are his sisters Kay (Joe) Stafinski, Connie (Jan Giffen) Ferschweiler, nieces and nephew, Pam (Manning) Fung, Tania Stafinski and Dan Stafinski, his great nieces Sarah and Claire Fung and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Ross was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Ferschweiler, his older brother, Lorne, and two siblings, a brother and sister who passed away as infants. Born in Camrose, Alberta, Ross was raised in Rosalind and Coleman. He then moved to Calgary, where he pursued a career as a Master Electrician, owning and operating his company, Fersch Electric, for the past 36 years. While Ross was dedicated to his work and demonstrated a great passion for it, he had many other interests. He was an avid Calgary Stampeder and Flames fan, a jazz enthusiast (had to be vinyl), a handgun marksman, and a kind, gentle, adoring family man. Whether he was fishing at a lake in the Kananaskis, exploring a back country trail, telling stories around a campfire, enjoying a fine meal at a new restaurant, or teasing his granddaughter and great nieces with tales of his antics, Ross was the entertainer. He knew how to live life to its fullest, and he did so with a unique blend of compassion and humour that will forever be cherished by those he touched. Friends are invited to join Ross’s family in A Celebration of His Life on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted in Ross’s name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, 2 Lansing Square, Suite 804, Toronto, ON M2J 4P8 Telephone 877) 668-8326 http://www.llscanada.org. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com. Special thanks to the doctors and staff in the Special Services Units at the Tom Baker Center who helped care for Ross over the past 4 months. Their efforts were greatly appreciated. Although he was taken away far too quickly, his family couldn’t be more proud of him and the way he fought his battle with Peripheral T cell Lymphoma – with determination, dignity, and grace.
