Calvin Nelson of Calgary passed away peacefully in his 86th year on Thursday, August 9, 2012.
Calvin served his country with the U.S. Armed Services and upon his return received his degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University. Calvin came to Canada where he worked in the oil and gas and life insurance industries. He was a lifetime member of APEGGA and the Financial Advisors Association of Canada (CLU).
Calvin is survived by his loving family, Sharon (Julian) Nelson-deCocq of Cochrane, Calla Nelson of Calgary, Cam (Patricia) Nelson of Calgary and Cordell (Pat) Nelson of Grande Prairie, AB; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert Nelson, Chester Nelson and Marjorie (Bob) Abell; sisters-in-law, Wilda Livingston and Julie Johnstone as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Georgina; parents, Ruby and Walter Nelson; sisters-in-law, Helen Nelson and Lillian Lundquist; brothers-in-law, Thomas Johnstone , Clifford Lundquist and Jack Livingston.
A private family service will be held.
