My sincerest condolences to Brian and Skinner family. I had the pleasure of getting to know Art while serving on the CCA Executive. He was a consummate gentleman and somebody I looked up to with great admiration and respect. Curling has lost a great friend of the sport and one who contributed a great deal to it's development. Harvey Mazinke Past President of the CCA and 1973 Brier Champion

I first met Art in 1971. I was a 22 year old working at Manulife and had been transferred from Saskatoon to Edmonton. Art was one of only a few Advisors who had achieved the Five Star Master Builder Award. I thought he was so successful, that I did not know what to say to him. That is when I found out that he was a gentleman and a professional. Art took an interest in me personally and in my future career. He maintained that interest and encouragement and support at all times. I learned so much from Art that it helped me apply the principles for which he stood, throughout my 36 year career. In 1983 I became the manager of that Edmonton office, and introduced an annual sales campaign in his honor. Many Advisors today proudly display the soaring eagle trophy in Arts honor. He helped me and everyone else in the office - the staff and the Advisors. He was a mentor to all. He used to ask me: how is the business doing? how are you doing? how can I help? He had a terrfic sense of humor and a little snicker to go along with his gentle nature. Art was one of a kind. It was my pleasure and good luck to have had him around me and to have learned from his wisdom. The words "Honor To Whom Honor is Due" sums it all up. Rest in Peace, my friend, and thanks for everything!

My condolences to the Skinner family on the passing of their father Art after a long and productive life. Art valued his family and their accomplishments, especially Brian's success in curling governance. I believe Art was the oldest living past president of the Canadian Curling Association and he was proud of his accomplishments as well as the success that Brian had in following Art in dedication to the sport of curling. I first met Art at the Officer's Club in the Edmonton Armouries in the 1970's and we kept in touch until he moved to Calgary to be closer to his sons and their families. Art attended the Brier each year while his health allowed and we always arranged a friendly card session where we discussed the glories of curling and the host of characters that made the sport. Art loved to play cribbage, usually with a little side bet and a glass of single malt scotch to toast his victories. I will miss Art's great sense of humour and the verbal "shots" he gave me if I missed a point or lost a game of cribbage to him. He always let me know that he was my mentor at the game and he was happy about my progress, although it was slow. The curling community and the business world will miss Art. He was always a gentleman with a kind heart and helpful nature. He will be missed but never forgotten. Ken MacRae

Dear Brian, Murray & Jim: In a recent chance meeting with Jim, I learned that your Dad was having some medical challenges, so this sad news was not unexpected. As a Saskatchewan curler from the good old days, I certainly admired your Dad's contributions to the roaring game. I was especially pleased to see him inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame. From trapping to potato farming to financial counseling, your Dad was a success. But in spite of it all, he remained a pretty unassuming guy, except for that ever-present twinkle in his eye. Sincere sympathy.

I don't remember meeting Art, but as a friend of Brian's, I certainly know quite a bit about his Dad. I served on the CCA Board with Brian and we knew much about this fine gentleman. Brian loved being recognized as 'Art's son'. My condolences to the family and especially Brian. Ina (and) Ron Light

Dear Brian, Murray, James and Families: There has been many times over the years where I have thought fondly of working with Art at Camp Wright building and repairing the Air Cadet Camp. Time spent socializing, learning and applying building skills and the odd little libation following a hard days work. My family and I shall hold Art's memory dear to our hearts.

I was so sorry to hear Art passed, he was an all around gentleman. He let my wife and I honeymoon in his house in Grand Cayman for which I am forever grateful. I was always fascinated to listen to his stories of his trapping days. I was very lucky to know Art.

My Dad, Alex Hudson, and Art were great curling buddies! I visited briefly with Art at the Brier a few years ago when he was honored at being one of the oldest living members of the Curling Association. He was always such a kind man! My sympathy to all the family.
