Obituary of Frederick SKINNER

Art Skinner, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the age of 97 years. His own man to the end, Art will be remembered for his loyalty to family, friends and to Her Majesty the Queen, for his generosity, business smarts, and sense of humour. Born in Brandon, Manitoba to Lyla and James Skinner, his family homesteaded in the Peace Country. As a teenager, Art operated a trap line before joining he Royal Canadian Air Force to serve in World War II. After the war, Art began a long successful insurance career with Manulife. He earned one of the company’s first 5-Star Master Builder awards in 1966. Art lived in Edmonton until moving to Calgary in 2006. Art is survived by is sons Brian, Murray, and James; daughters-in-law Margot and Kim; grand-daughters Katy, Erin (Keith), Amy and Christy, and their children. Predeceased by his wife, Florence, in 1994, and siblings Gladys and Gordon. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. The family thanks Art’s caregivers at the Eau Claire Retirement Residence, the Colonel Belcher, and the Foothills Hospital (Units 62 and 46).
