Obituary of Alexander John LONGMORE

Alexander John (Jake) Longmore beloved husband of Eva Longmore of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the age of 89 years. Jake was born in Kamloops, BC to Alex and Williamina Longmore. At age 19, he joined the Air Force, later transferring to the Navy at Canadian Forces Base Cornwallis, where he trained and served. When he returned to BC he chose to go into the field of Education. Jake started his career as a teacher, went into administration and then served as school superintendent in four different locations in both BC and AB. He was hardworking, determined, innovative - a visionary. Jake liked the outdoors, sports, driving, travelling, a good laugh, walking and whistling. He was a firm believer in giving back to the various communities in which his family lived. He is survived by his wife Eva; children Geordie, Mairi Anne, Malcolm and Shaun; and four grandchildren Ashley, Jaimee, Tyler, and Taylor. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Mary. There will be a private family celebration. Friends are invited to a public reception which will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm at Wentworth Manor (Bristol Room), 5717 - 14 Avenue SW, Calgary.
