Jan I am sitting here looking at Jim's picture in the paper and thinking about the two of you. Jim, with his patience, kindness and sense of humour, along with his absolute determination to get home, every time he was admitted to Unit 47. And you, also with your patience and your devotion to Jim over many, many months of many, many ups and downs. What a pair! You were by far the best and most fun pair to send home from hospital! I am so sorry to hear of his death, but also relieved somehow, because he is no longer struggling. And you...I admire you so much, for all you have done for Jim. Thinking of both of you with great fondness. Chris Marriott Transition Services

Dear Jan and 'Kids', Hans and I were sad to read of Jim's passing. We remember with a smile our good times together, quite a long time ago by now. May you find peace and strength to go on after the long, difficult days. We are thinking of you and pray for you. I hope we can be in touch some time soon. With love, Helen & Hans.

Jan and 'Kids' I so miss seeing the Fordens each day on 47, your faces always bright with smiles and obvious love for each other, playing cards, reading, watching Dragon's Den or Murdoch Mysteries. Jan, your faithfulness and constant advocacy for your husband will never be forgotten. Jim was unfailingly sweet, patient and long suffering. I wish you all peace and rest. God is with you!

Jan and family: So sorry to learn of Jim's spirit rising. I will miss his wonderful presence in our church. Who is going to let out those rousing Hallelujahs and bring smiles to all our faces? May wonderful, warm memories comfort all of you!

My sympathy, Jan. I really missed my visit with Jim this past week. He has been one constant in the many people I see in Foothills. I enjoyed knowing of his faith, his determination (stubbornness?) and his cheerfulness, in spite of all. He told me many stories of good days and bad, that made him seem so real to me. I treasure having met you too, Jan and have great respect for the support and encouragement you gave to Jim. I give thanks to God that he is now at peace. May you find peace and the strength to carry on. My prayers are with you. Harold Black

It has been an honour and a privelage to have known such a sweet couple, wonderful and courageous man, and devoted wife. Take care, Jan, and God be with you.
