Dr. Raj Gandhi was one of my 'next-door-neighbours' on the ninth floor of the Social Sciences tower when I arrived at the University of Calgary in 1989. He was a warm, welcoming and supportive colleague with a true passion for classical sociological theory (there was nothing that Raj liked talking about more than the theories of Karl Marx and Max Weber) and a strong commitment to the principles of equality and social justice. It was my honour to have had the opportunity to work alongside and get to know Dr. Gandhi. I extend my sincere sympathies to Hansa and the entire family.
