Obituary of Annie HOUG-CHALY

Please share a memory of Annie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anne Houg-Chaly of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the age of 102 years. Anne was a true Albertan. She was born in a farmhouse built by her father near Halfway Lake, AB. Anne often credited her simple prairie existence as the key to her longevity. She married Torolph Houg in1932 (d. 1978) and together they made a go of homesteading before settling in Edmonton with their five children, Dennis, Ronald, Greta (d.2008), Chester (d.2006) and Ruby. Hard work was her reward, and this philosophy was passed on to her family. In her later years she married Vlod Chaly (d. 2010) and together they spent many hours fishing for salmon on the B.C. coast, tending their vegetable garden, travelling the country visiting family and playing poker, bridge and bingo. She treasured her family and was an adoring grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother to her many offspring. “Mother your memory is our keepsake with which we’ll never part” Love always, Dennis and Laura Houg, Ronnie and Lillian Houg, Jim Gillies, Carolyn Houg and Ruby and Doug Bury. A Private Family celebration of Anne’s life will be held at a later date.
