Obituary of Louie Marian WRIGHT
Louie Wright of Airdrie, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2017, at the age of 95 years, due to a severe stroke.
Louie was born on December 27, 1921, in Silton, SK, and lived in a farming community nearby for most of her life. In her early years, Louie attended Normal School, but her training was cut short when WWII broke out, and a shortage of teachers accelerated her entry into the teaching profession. After the war Louie married Raynor Wright, a young man from her own community, who had just returned from serving overseas. Together they raised three children on a farm that bordered Last Mountain Lake, just a few miles from the farm where she grew up. Over the years Louie reminisced about the times she herded sheep as a child – a solitary activity that allowed her imagination to flourish. It was during that time that she developed a love for writing, a hobby that she continued to enjoy throughout her lifetime, resulting in a collection of poems and stories, some of which she later published for friends and family to enjoy. In 1981 Louie and Raynor moved to Regina, where they enjoyed their retirement together. Louie moved to Saskatoon in 1997, to Calgary in 2008, and later to Airdrie to be near one of her daughters.
Louie is survived by her son John (Diane) of Regina Beach; her daughters, Shirley (Lou) Brunelle of Saskatoon and Carol (Randy) Crosson of Airdrie; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and her sister Madge Hull of Red Deer. She was predeceased by her husband Raynor, two sisters, and two brothers.
Louie will be fondly remembered for her kind heart, strength of character, and gentle, quiet nature.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 5 at 2 p.m. at the Marieton Church Cemetery. A tea will follow at the Silton Community Hall.
The family would like to express its appreciation to the staff at both Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary and Bethany Airdrie for their attentive, loving care.
