Herman used to come into the downtown Calgary BMO where I would do his banking back in 2012 when I was a naive young teller. He was cheery and well known at the branch - most importantly he never complained about the wretched customer coffee. He glowed while talking about his family, his farm, and his time in the military. Although I left the bank in 2012, I would think about Herman from time to time. I finally decided to google him and although I'm saddened to see he passed away, I'm happy to have known such a sweet man.
