Jackie and I, like so many others in the show jumping world were saddened upon learning of the recent passing of Tommy.
Tommy was always the gentleman, gracious and fun to work with at Spruce Meadows.
From time to time I have had the priviledge and enjoyment of announcing along side Tommy and will always remember his admonition to new volunteers and officials: “Rememberg, what happens in the judges booth stays in the judges booth”.
Tommy will be missed by many and our heartfelt condolences go out to Ray and family.

When I first met Tommy, I was a starry-eyed 12 year old learning how to ride a horse over several small obstacles. Tommy was patient beyond belief as I picked myself up off the ground, learned to sit properly and just stay on the horse, no matter what.
As the years went on we re-connected from time to time through mutual friends. It was always such a joy to see Tommy who had a wonderful smile and such a warm greeting, not to mention many good stories.
It was such a pleasure to know Tommy.

Dear Ray, and all members of Tommy's family,
I was very sad to hear of Tommy's passing, firstly from one of my neighbours who had junior judged under him, and then of course from all our Spruce Meadows friends. Tommy sold me my first saddle way back in '68 when he was at The Tack Shop. I have so many great memories of all those times I worked with you and Tommy at Spruce Meadows, and I know so many others do too. Tommy was so well respected and such a great member of the horse community.
Sending you love and a big hug Ray!

To the most genuine, knowledgeable, funny, caring and just the right amount of gentle man I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Tommy you not only set the standard in our industry of how to carry ones self in judging, but you were so humble you were always the first one to poke fun of yourself for a chuckle, it was an absolute pleasure to have worked with you and Ray and I hope that you rest well my friend.

Ray: My heart breaks for you at this time of such extreme sorrow. Wish I could be there on Monday to give you a big hug. I wont be able to get back to Alberta for the service as we just got to Lake Havasu for the next 2 months and have company arriving to visit next week. Please know my thoughts are with you at this time. You and Uncle Tom always made us laugh when we got together which wasn't often enough but time just seems to get away from us all over the years. If there is anything I can do for you at all please let me know. Love you always Debbie Ann
