This is a picture that I took of my Granny at Mr. Mikes steakhouse when she took me for my tenth birthday dinner. Birthday dinners were always our tradition, and I will remember them forever.

Bettyann Greenslade was my Granny. She was a wonderful lady with lots of stories to tell. I spent a lot of time with my Granny and as I got older, we had many great conversations. Some of the best memories that I have of her when I was a kid are things like when she would come over and watch me ride my bike, or take me to swimming pools. She always loved being apart of the activities that my brother and I were doing. She would sit on my front lawn for hours watching my ride my bike on the road just outside my house. She would come watch me do gymnastics all the time and she was at every performance that I did. She came to watch me play baseball and soccer when I was younger too. I remember when I was really little, my Mom and Dad would take me trick or treating on Halloween and she would come over and help out by staying at my house to hand out candy. When I would come back from getting my treats, she would help me organize my candy and I always sent her home with my tootsie-rolls. As I got older, we took a small trip together. She took me to a hotel in Calgary, AB and it was just her and I. I went swimming and she got to visit with a few older ladies in the pool area. Granny also loved her coffee. She took my brother and I to many restaurants over the years and we would sit there for hours until she was done her coffee. My brother would always ask her if she was almost done her coffee, and she would order more just to bug us. I never minded it though, because it meant I could have a longer conversation with her. What I loved most of all was our one on one time. We had so many great talks as I became a teenager and she was always interested in what was going on in my life. She always wanted to know if I had a boyfriend or if I had a date to the dance. She had many boy stories of her own to tell me and she always gave me great advice. I will miss those talks. Back when I was in Grade 5, I went to her house almost everyday after school so she could help me with my multiplication. She was like a tutor. I ended up memorizing my basic multiplication that year and passed all my math tests because of how she helped me. We also visited a cat shelter a few times that is located down in Cross field, AB. She always loved going there to see the rescues. Granny always talked about getting a cat of her own once again if she ever moved out of her apartment. She loved cats, especially my cat Storm. I have so many amazing memories of her, and it would probably take days to explain them all. The last time I talked to Granny was in the hospice and my dad, brother and I left her watching the news in one of the living rooms. Granny always loved watching the news. She always had it on the TV when I went to see her. I am so thankful that she is no longer in pain. My Granny lived a wonderful life.Granny was always so thoughtful and she always put a smile on my face, even in the roughest of days. I love her very much and I hope to see her again someday. Granny was a very special lady, and she will always live very close to my heart.
