David was a terrific colleague and manager. I had the honour of sitting next to him for the better part of 10 years. He had an office, but hardly ever entered it, preferring to work shoulder-to-shoulder with other people in the online department. He was accommodating and sympathetic to our personal lives and supported us professionally. He was patient, funny, generous, intelligent and self-deprecating. He is missed by many people.
