Obituary of George V. MATHEWS

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend.

George is survived by his wife, Lisa Mathews; children, Shane Mathews (Cari), Larissa Seeber (Carson), Jayanth Mathews, Chantelle Jenkins (Jared), and Michele Dykstra (Steven); sister, June Shuffler (Eglon); aunt and uncle, Hilda and Kumar David; grandchildren, Ava, Isabella, Azriah, Xavier, Violetta and Sebastian.

George was predeceased by his father, T. Samuel Mathews; his mother, Violet; and his brothers, Roger (Terry) and Deepak.

George was born on May 31, 1944 in Bangalore, India. He attended Mysore University where he completed his Bachelor of Law Degree. George immigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1972 and was quick to immerse himself into Canadian culture while always honoring his Indian roots.  He was a valued and respected member of the Real Estate community in Calgary for many years as a teacher, broker and mentor. George was a devoted family man with a passion for cooking and entertaining who had an immense love for sports.

A kind, gentle and loving soul, George was always quick to light up a room with a joke or a kind gesture and made others around him feel special.  He had a way of touching your heart in everyday conversation and always knew the right words to say in any situation.  George always put others before himself.  His mannerisms will remain in our memories and in our hearts forever.

George had God’s loving hand to guide him throughout his life and had spiritual peace in his final days.

George,

You are one of a kind.

We were honored to know you and feel truly blessed to have had you in our lives. You will always be in our hearts and we will continue your legacy through everything you have taught us.

We love you forever.

Love,

 Your Family
