Dear Kyle, Melissa & Susan,
I remember your Dad chasing the cows, riding his tractor or horses. He was attentive to his neighbors. Loved the farm life with his family. Our loved ones may be distant but they are with us always. Family and Neighbors are one.

My name is Shane Hansen. You don't know me but I am a newly elected director in 2017 to the Alberta Beef Producers. I had the honour of getting to know Heinz in the short time we were there together. Heinz did an amazing job on any committee he was elected to. I was really looking forward to working with him to further the ABP.
He was so intelligent and meticulous. You would swear every time he made a comment that it was rehearsed but obviously it never was. He just thought and functioned on a higher level than anyone else. I appreciated his friendship in the short time that we were working together. He was always kind and considerate. He may not have always agreed with you but he always let you state your opinion then in his astute and calculated way would make a knowledgeable statement that would always make well-informed and common sense to the issue. I will miss his insight, and friendship, and feel that he he could have been the Chairperson of the ABP in the future. He was an amazing person and will be deeply missed.

Joyce and I have very fond memories of Heinz. He visited our Feedlot many times as a rep for Upjohn, and hosted a trip to Sedona and a day at the NCBA in Pheonix.
Heinz represented the gold standard of Pharma Rep, helpful, understanding, knowledgeable, all in a laid back soft spoken manner. His polite "down home" manner, and soft spoken style made him a pleasure to visit with and listen to. He always had time for you, and we felt good to make time for him.
Our most sincere condolances to family and friends. The highest esteem for a person is that people remember you with a smile when you are gone. This man will be remembered through out the industry with a smile for many years. It was a pleasure to have known and worked with Heinz.

Susan and Family, I am devastated by the news of Heinz's passing.
I worked with him at the Alberta Beef booths. I will miss his honesty, hard work and his humour.
He is definitely a man of his word. It was enjoyable to work with him and I feel honored to have worked with him. He was very helpful and wanted to reshape the misconceptions of the beef industry. He enjoyed to be challenged by people.
You have lost a great person/son/husband/friend/dad far too soon.
My heart goes out to your loved ones. It is a sad day.

I've just learned of Heinz's passing today. So hard to believe We worked together for many years at Upjohn and he was one of the most upfront people I've ever known, yet always respected for his ability to speak his mind and challenge the status quo. We reconnected last year via Facebook last year and a great chat not too long ago comparing our various outdoor activities and pursuits and our post Upjohn lives. We were just too months apart in age and often celebrated our birthdays together at company functions over the years. My thoughts are with all of his family and friends.

Heinz was a kind and joyful man who I rarely saw without a smile on his face. I only knew him for a short time but I always enjoyed being around him and his wonderful family. He treated me with respect whether we were debating or sharing stories. Despite some differences between us and only knowing me as a friend of Kyle's, he welcomed me into his home for meals and to my first branding; all of which I thoroughly enjoyed. My deepest condolences to his family and all others that will miss him dearly.

Heinz was a true and loyal friend, with whom I was lucky to be able to share almost a lifetime of his wisdom, good humour, enterprise, philosophy and his strong, but kind and generous presence. It’s very hard to talk about these things in the past tense, but I’m one of the lucky ones to be able to hold on to these memories. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Susan, Kyle and Melissa, Ruth and Mrs. Hedwig Lemmer, and the many of you that will miss him.

Dear Susan, Kyle and Melissa,
At the end of the year Heinz and I were phoning each other and kidding around on retirement and Heinz added that the way I was going my retirement and funeral would be on the same day. Heinz was telling me about all the good things in life and how proud he was of what Kyle and Melissa were accomplishing. We were going to get together for lunch and he was going to pay to make sure that I would be coming...
I am shocked and saddened and wish you strength in these difficult times. Sjoert

To the Lemmer Family,
My sincerest condolences to all of you at this most difficult time.
I'm still finding it hard to comprehend the passing of Heinz - he was a great man and a steadfast friend. The years from football with the St. Francis Browns, to the U of A Aggies, camping out in the Yukon and Kananaskis, and all of family life's ups and downs that followed seem like such a blur now.
Find comfort in the knowledge that Heinz is in a better place, and that his friendship will never, ever be forgotten.
Heinz,
Journey well my friend - will see you when the time arrives.

Heinz! (I should like to shout out loud...)
How could you leave us so early? We counted on you as our trusted friend, as our role model how to live and love life, as the cowboy-in-residence. You were truly larger than life – we admired how you were settled in your relations, positions and ambitions. There was so much left to discover with you on our side, but now you have passed on to other pastures and adventures.
We will miss your friendship, your humour, your thoughtfulness, we admired how compassionately you cared for your mother. You were never shy to voice your opinions, but also ready to accept others', sometimes even considering if they could become yours... Too late!
Our condolences go out to Susan, Kyle, Melissa, and Ruth.
