Obituary of Gerald MANLY
Gerald Manly passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the age of 86 years in Calgary, Alberta.
Born on May 22, 1933 to parents Robert and Nellie Manly in Berwyn, Alberta, Gerry spent his childhood in Peace River and Grand Prairie, Alberta.
After high school, Gerry spent 6 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he met his future wife, Valie Kipp. He then studied to become an Engineer and had a fulfilling career in the oil & gas industry while raising a family in Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary, Alberta.
Gerry was an avid history buff, loved a political debate and enjoyed riding his bicycle into his 80’s throughout Calgary’s trail system.
Gerry is survived by his son Stephen Manly; daughter Cynthia Enns (David); grandson Joshua Enns (Emma Lee Freistadt); his brother, Allan Manly.
He was predeceased by his wife, Valie Manly and his brother Douglas Manly.
He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
