Mary Jane and family, allow me to offer my condolences. I was one of the Sunalta/Scarboro kids who grew up with Bob. He was my sister's, Mary, age. Over many years, Bob was often in and out of our house, as we were his. These were formative years. I knew then that Bob was a good person and a trustworthy friend. We lost touch as I moved to Ontario for university and got stuck there for 30 years. However, whenever we met over the last few decades the friendship was warm and the conversation animated. I am thankful he was in my life.

I will always remember Bob as a bigger than life personality, with the most wonderful smile and brilliant blue eyes, and he sure could Bar-B-Q! He was a very proud Calgarian and when I first came to the city he showed me what Western hospitality meant. He glowed with the pride he had in his children. The world was a far more interesting place with him in it, and we all became richer in knowing him.

Sadly the day comes when we have to bid farewell to our love. My heart goes out to you. I will always see you and Bob together, sparkling, positive, informative and easy to love at the occasions we met. These memories were happy ones. Let us keep them in our hearts. I loved your dad like a second dad when we were young.
He always loved a visit and to talk . He really cared what I was doing in my life and help with support and encouragement . I fondly remember him toasting the “bride “ at my wedding and his words of wisdom , happy hours , Christmas visits , ranch time , Ike his faithful dog, that a Beta was better than a VCR and your new car arrival the “peanut”. So many great memories , my heart aches for you , Cal, Gord , Samantha and their kids , and especially for your loving Mum as she says good but to her life partner. :(
