To all of the Wilcox Family: Please accept my expression of sympathy and condolences on the passing away of "Mr. Wilcox". My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family. I have fond memories, growing up on the same street, of Mr. Wilcox as I used to call him. As his soulmate and wife, Marlys stated it best when she said, "he was gentle and a gentleman". I remember him spending time at our house or at my Aunt and Uncle's having a glass or two of homemade wine and telling us stories about the North Hill News and growing up on the Prairies. I recall he enjoyed his pipe along with his wine. I also remember his calm demeanor and smile when he was at church. May he Rest in Peace. Marino Giancarlo

Bea & I have known Dick since the sixties with our dealing with North Hill News and enjoyed his company for most of 2018/19, as a hallway neighbour at The Lodge At Valley Ridge. The Melnyk Family would like to offer our sincerest condolences to all of the Wilcox Family on the sudden passing of their father Richard, who was also most fondly known as Dick. Dick and Marlys were the kindest and gentlest couple our family knew. They graciously and heartily welcomed the entire Melnyk clan into their family circle when their eldest daughter Marilyn married Sam and Mary's eldest son Steven. Dick and Marlys would often go out of their way to stop by and visit Mary and Sam, who lived in Red Willow, on their drives from Calgary to Camrose. Mary and Sam greatly appreciated their time and efforts of "keeping in touch" and their visits were often filled with stories and laughter. Dick and Marlys were especially kind and generous to our mother Mary when our father died. Whenever our mother visited Calgary, it was Dick and Marlys, who would pick our mother up at the bus station and offer her a place to stay, and even drive her around as she visited friends and family in Calgary. A quiet and humble man of God, Dick lived his life as an exemplary example to everyone -- He was truly a "one of a kind." As a husband, as a father, as grandfather, and great grandfather, and as a friend, we will miss him and his sense of humor, kindness, and gentleness. Rest in Peace dearest Dick.
