Al & Mary Madeley posted a condolence
The passing of Tom is sad news for us. We just wanted to let you know what a great neighbour he was. The day after a blizzard, when Al was away, I had to fly to Ontario for a funeral. When I returned I was so pleased to find that Tom had shovelled out the garage for me - so thoughtful. Tom always posted "no parking" signs on our garage whenever he had a garage sale and whenever we had a garage sale he was happy to lend us a table every time. Al and Tom had the best political discussions - there was always more to talk about. As well he knew Gump Worsley, a distant relative of Al's. Such an interesting neighbour - we were very fortunate to have Tom in our lives during our 14 years on Wedgewood Drive.

To Tom's family our thoughts are with at this time. First met your Dad at Calgary West Federal PC meeting in the 80's, his comments were oh so true, although few were prepared to listen. However we often say in our house "Tom told you what to expect". If only others would have listened. Later years when we had our little poodle Tom was out Vet. Recall working with your Mum as returning officer. Last time I chatted with your Dad was in Cc-op. Rest is peace Tom.

Dear Sheila, Mike, Bob and family, We were very sorry to hear that Tom had passed on . Bonnie and I want to send you our deepest sympathy. Emery Cyfra and I had a very enjoyable lunch with your Dad at Christmas. We reminisced about old times at Animal Clinic and had a lot of laughs. Your Dad was an excellent veterinarian and was well respected by his associates and clients alike. We are out of the country and are unable to attend his service but know that we are thinking of all of you. Gary Niemi

To the Meagher family, I worked with your dad at the Animal Clinic as an animal health technologist from 1973 until 1974. I was a newcomer to Calgary and your dad made me feel so welcome. He was a gentle teacher, mentor and giver of love to the animals entrusted to his care. I left the clinic to have my family and be home for them. I have many fond memories of your dad, Tom, your mom Diane and the birth of their first two children. My blessings go to all of you and my thanks for the time I spent with your dad at the clinic and all that he taught me. May the memories that you shared together fill on that place in your heart reserved for those so special to you. With much love and respect to you and for your dad, Alva Sodero (Kimmins)

Dear Family of Dr. Tom Meagher: When we first moved to Calgary in 1972 and acquired a kitten (the first of several), we visited the clinic where Dr. Meagher was the veterinarian. He was always the professional but kind and compassionate, especially when euthanasia was the only treatment option. Even to this day, I can summon up a vivid mental image of Dr. Meagher listening intently to the tiny kitten's chest and saying with a smile, that he was always on the lookout for a heart murmur! I will remember him fondly for the caring animal physician that he was. My sincere sympathies for your loss. sincerely, Karen Stenhouse My sympathies

Dear Sheila, Mike and Bob! It is with sadness that we learn of your father's passing. It is never easy to say farewell to a loved one, but when it is your father, it is even more difficult. My wife, Lynne and I have had so many memorable moments with your mom and dad and we cherish each one of them with love and affection. If memory serves correctly, Sheila was in attendance at many of these events. Your parents were good loyal Progressive Conservatives. Many times particularly when Dr. Meagher's thoughts were in-congruent with those being proclaimed by opponents, he would refer to them emphatically as citizens, most probably lost in the arena of mental gymnastics. This was often taken to mean that they were left-wingers (heaven forbid). At a policy discussion on more than one occasion, he offered to address the assembly with the objective of recommending the liquidation of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. It would appear that his objectives in that regard, have yet to be realized. Dr Meagher's personal and family contributions to our society are substantial. The world is a better place because of your mom and dad. Sincerely, Frank and Lynne Hickey and Family
