This photo says so much. I didn't know Liz when I took it at the Calgary Women's March in January 2017 but, fortunately, I recognized her shortly after the march at a nearby grocery store. Coincidentally, we lived in the same neighbourhood, and after exchanging contact info we met not long after at Friends, our local coffee shop. Our friendship progressed slowly, impeded by our busy lives, and in time, by Liz's declining health. But after each visit, we looked forward to the next, sharing many great conversations and 'solving' a few of the world's problems!
As I began to know Liz, I learned of the health journey she was on. Impossible it seemed but not to Liz. She was determined and faced every bit of it ferociously. It mirrored her ferocious love for her family. Liz was an exceptional person.
My heartfelt sympathy to all of you in your loss.
Betty

I so sorry to hear of Liz's passing. I had the privilege of working with Liz for several years when we were both with government. She was a leader, filled with compassion and concern for the communities we served. She knew more about community development practices than anyone I had ever known and used her skill to advise and support others across the entire province. I had many happy memories of Liz, her sassy haircuts and her spirit of caring for others. My deepest sympathy.

Liz was a dear friend in school in Shawville, Quebec. I admired her stylish haircut and clothes. She was always classy. One night when we were in grade seven at a sleep-over at her house, we had a seance. We asked questions on the ouija board. Magic transpired.
She was one of the high school cheerleaders and I admired her gymnastic abilities. I'm sorry that I lost touch with Liz. I hope she didn't suffer. My condolences to her children, husband and family.
