Worked with Mike at Horizon North, we were really good work friends, hung out most lunches and went for power walks, even after he moved to another company. A good guy and ready smile. I just found this out, was going to give him a shout out and went to his LinkedIn. Condolences to his family.

My deepest condolences to the family.
I worked with Mike on a project. Although he was in Calgary and I was in Montreal and we never met, it was a pleasure working with him. His cheerfulness was infectious even over the phone and the Skype meetings.

Condolences to Mike's family. Although I didn't know Mike on the level others knew him, Mike never failed to put a smile on my face. Mike and I would often arrive in the office near the same time in the mornings and start to unpack our thing together; you could tell he was a morning person as he always was so positive and cheery! Mike often attended work socials, and my fondest memory of this was in 2019 when we decorated cookies beside each other. Although our cookies did not turn out like the tutorial, we had such fun decorating them and making a mess out of the special treat. Mike ill truly be missed! He always made me feel so welcomed, was always such a joy to be around and was an overall amazing person, colleague and friend.

I still remember my first day at Deloitte office. I was there for a meeting before my joining day and I was sitting right beside him in the conference room. The moment I told him that I am new to Calgary, he started to explain me how Calgary is divided in four quadrants. He told me that this city is amazing and if I ever have any question I can reach out to him. And even after joining Deloitte, every time I met him he was smiling and asking about my wellbeing. Will miss him.

The team at Deloitte would like to send our most heartfelt sympathies to Mike's family during this time. Together, we'd like to share some stories and memories of Mike that we hope will make you smile just as Mike made us smile each and every single day.
This entry is from Mihir Chinoy:
Mike was one of the most kind hearted people I have worked with. Always smiling and ready to help. He worked with me since he joined Deloitte. Most recently we worked together on one of our most difficult client and Mike’s readiness to help, his technical knowledge (of course his always smiling face) did the trick. This client made a point to call me as we were wrapping up the engagement to tell me how awesome Mike was and gave him full credit of the project success.
All I can say is, Mike will be missed immensely. Rest In Heaven – Rest In Peace.

I had a hard time coming up with just one specific memory of Mike (except for perhaps the day he wore that great Rudolf, with the blinking nose, sweater to our meeting!) Mike was consistently kind, generous with his time and effort, always willing to give his best both as part of the team and as a person. He was unassuming and was quick to find joy and humor in everyday situations! Mike will be missed dearly, my memories of him, do just what he did every day, bring a smile to my face!

My favourite memory is knowing without a doubt that he would be in the same spot across from me every Friday in the office. He was always such a positive light in the bullpen, always chatting up colleagues or clients and making them laugh. I think we can all agree that it won’t be the same without him there to check in and say hi in his positive tone, always seemingly unbothered by a heavy workload or a stressful project.
Thinking about Mike’s family and friends ❤.

When I started at the firm two years ago, I decided to show up bright and early on my first day; only to find out that no one else was at the office before 8:30am - except Mike, of course! He quickly introduced himself and told me about all the wonders of Deloitte, Calgary, and his family. From that day on, when ever I was able to come to the office early, him and I would spend the first part of the morning catching up and chatting about all sorts of things. He was a lovely person and I will miss his company dearly. Wishing his family lots of love and strength during this time.

This entry is from Riley Del Giudice:
My favorite memory about Mike was the consistency he brought to helping people at the firm. I often found Mike would be the first one in the office, one time joking he had to get the cleaning staff to teach him to turn on the lights in the morning. And he would stay until everyone else was ending their day as well. I often wondered why he put so much extra time and effort in when he could have still been successful here putting in the same amount of time as others. But as I’ve listened to the stories about him from other people, it’s become more clear to me, he did it to make extra time for those around him. From taking the time to say good morning to people, to going for coffees, to helping people solve project problems. He did this on a day-to-day basis and was one of the best people you could have around the office. He will be greatly missed.
Thanks for putting these memories together! I look forward to hearing the memories others had of him.

Mike would regularly ping his colleagues on Skype, just to tell them to have a great day. The fact that so many of us have shared this as one of our favourite Mike memories says so much about the impact we can have on others through such small & simple acts. As humans, we get easily caught up in measuring our success in life through large milestones & achievements, but Mike left us with such a powerful lesson. Little things matter. Taking the time to wish someone a good day matters. The way you support those around you matters. Mike mattered and he made me feel like I mattered.
Thank you for leading by example, Mike. You will be greatly missed.

I can honestly say that Mike was one of the best person I have ever met. There was always that infectious smile, his willingness to jump in and help anyone with anything. I will miss his morning pokes over skype wishing me a great day. The world has lost one of the great ones and I can't begin to express my sympathies to his family. He will be dearly missed by his team mates at Deloitte.
I consider myself very fortunate to have been lucky enough to have known him.

A good friend since 1989 when we were both trying to get our careers off the ground. Watching all the changes in our lives including the change in life when the kids were born and moving into a great house and an area of Calgary that was pretty new then. I always marveled at all the renovations and household projects that Mikey accomplished through the years. A week did not go by that Mike was tinkering, fixing or building something around the house. Best times meeting after work at the “Office” and other watering holes catching up. Regular visits to the Airdrie pool chatting and catching up again while treading water! Fun times.
Although Mike’s passing was way too premature, he left a little part of this world better with his gentleness and kindness. Will miss you Michael Gorbachev.
