Obituary of Michael Louis Rottmann

Michael (“Mike”) Rottmann, beloved husband of Donna Rottmann (nee Doan), loving father to Kelsey and Tyler Rottmann and friend to many, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at the age of 59, after living a full and accomplished life.

 

Born on December 25, 1961 in Calgary, Alberta to loving parents Frank and Anna Rottmann, Mike graduated from St. Francis High School in Calgary and went on to study Computer Science at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Mike’s passion for technology drove him towards a successful and varied career, across many companies and culminated in Mike being considered top of his field.

 

Mike married the love of his life, Donna Doan in July 1986, and together welcomed two beautiful children into the world, daughter Kelsey and son Tyler.

 

Mike had a deep love for all things outdoors, including camping, biking, and smoking meat to share with family and friends. True to his passion for technology, Mike was an avid Star-Trek fan, however, his love for sci-fi, was outdone by his energy and excitement for woodworking and renovation projects with his dad, Frank. Always a man you could count on, Mike was there to help family, friends, and neighbours with household projects, yard work or really just having a friend when you needed one most.

 

His generosity was boundless and love for his family and friends never ceased to amaze those who knew him best. He will be remembered for always putting a smile on people’s faces and giving the best bear hugs that made you feel like the most important person in the world.

 

Besides his loving wife Donna Rottmann, Mike is survived by daughter, Kelsey Rottmann (Daniel Malcik); son Tyler Rottmann (Caiti Brook); father Frank Rottmann; brothers Bill Rottmann (Susan); Paul Rottmann (Mary); father-in-law Bryan Doan and mother-in-law Jean Doan.  

 

Mike was predeceased by his mother Anna who passed in 2007.
