I just learned of Karen's passing from Devora, a mutual friend and yoga classmate. I felt stunned by the news; staying home during the pandemic has meant losing touch with many, especially CWC friends. I am truly saddened by your loss. Karen was a wonderfully kind soul, full of energy and seemed to be the picture of health. How quickly life can change.
My family has been touched by cancer, and Karen always asked me how my husband's Tx was going and how I was.
She was so caring of others; coffee time after class won't be the same.
I can only imagine your sadness and grief.
Wishing you comfort, with heartfelt condolences, Joan Kovacik

Dear Pedersen family, my heart aches for your pain and loss right now. Karen was always so welcoming and kind. Growing up with Kari, I have fond memories of us teenagers piling into the house and she would let us raid the fridge for the best snacks and cheeses. From a young age I could tell she filled her house with love. I know there is nothing that can fill the void of losing a parent or spouse but she will be there in spirit walking along side you. Praying and thinking of you all.

Dear Greg and family, With a heavy heart I send you all my deepest sympathies on the loss of Karen ( wife, mother, grandmother, sister, Aunt and friend). Over the last couple of years I had gotten to know Karen through CWC. How fortunate was I. I always enjoyed her positive attitude, work ethic, encouragement and sense of humour as we did our weekly workouts, yoga classes and drank many many cups of coffee! We were both so excited about our children’s weddings and the arrival of our first grandchildren. We proudly shared our children’s accomplishments and what kind caring human beings they all are. Karen always spoke with such joy and love of you all. For me, in the short few years I got to know Karen, our last social distance, tailgate, parking lot coffee will be one of my treasured memories. A snapshot of health, happiness and bubbling energy. I send you all my warmest, deepest and most heartfelt sympathies. Gail Lusis

My heart is with our Alberta family this week.
Auntie Karen was so full of life it is hard to believe she is gone. Growing up I so looked up to Karen - she was fun, kind, loving and an amazing mom. Summers spent in Calgary were always the highlight of the year. Auntie Karen always welcomed us with open arms - when we were kids with trips to the zoo, sleepovers and time spent at the Winter Club and when we were older with great wine, great food and great conversation. She would even stay up late with all us crazy cousins as we made silly jokes and played silly games. Auntie Karen was always in on the fun - and having her there always made the night better.
I have thought of Auntie Karen so many times this week and will continue to hold her near to my heart. Auntie Karen was a wonderful aunt, a great friend and she will be missed more than I can ever fully express in words.
Sending all my love and support to Greg, Brian, Kevin, Julia, Kari, Jason and Arabella.

Oh my goodness Greg and Kevin and family!
I am so sad to hear of Karen’s passing.
I had mostly a locker room and yoga friendship with Karen.
As we changed into our street clothes, we always enjoyed our conversations! She was a sparkle of positive energy and I loved our visits. We shared stories of our boys’ lives and marvelled at the beauty of the days.
I am sure these are difficult days for you. Know that her love will always shine down on you all.

I was lucky enough to become part of Karen's family when I married her nephew, Don. Karen will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
I will miss all our double dinner dates with Greg and Don drinking too many margaritas. I'll miss our late night visits drinking wine and catching up when we visited Calgary. Karen was a wonderful wife, mother, aunt, grandma and friend. I will miss her so much.
My love and deepest condolences to Greg, Brian, Kevin, Kari and their families. And all those whose lives she touched. Karen will be missed beyond words.
