My condolences to Harold' s family. Having worked with Harold for eight years, I very much appreciated his support and assistance during that entire time. I remember Harold most for his command of the English language. He could criticize or correct someone without being harsh.. a rare talent in my book.

I just heard of Harolds passing. I remember him well as an exceptional educator, an individual with a great deal of “class” as he was always a perfect gentleman in all a situations. I met Harold through a few mutual friends and always admired his willingness that share insights and for myself as a fairly new CASS member that was very important. I also remember some fun times. Sincere sympathies to Olwyn and the family. We have lost one of the best.

I’m Diana Sigmund from San Antonio, Texas. I dreamed about Mr Parr last night and decided to look him up on internet. I m terribly sad about his passing. I had been thinking about going back to visit him and Ollie. I did send him a card last year and letting him they were on my mind. Mr Parr was my principal at Elbow Valley Elementary School. He used to call me Super Max after the golfer Trevino. Mr. Parr, you are greatly missed. Thank you for all the work you did. Condolences to your wife, Ollie, children and grand children. RIP. Diana

I recently heard of Harold's passing and wish to express my sincere condolences to Olwyn and family. Harold was my
Area Superintendent when I first joined Rocky View School Division and later a Central Office colleague. His commitment to the educators he worked with in providing the best education possible for Rocky View students was commendable. His sense of humour, steadfastness and professionalism set the tone for all of us in the Division.
When the opportunity presented itself Harold often quoted meaningful messages to graduating students from one of his favourite books "The Wind in the Willows"
"Here today, up and off to somewhere else tomorrow! Travel, change, interest, excitement! The whole world before you, and a horizon that's always changing!”
― Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows
Rest in peace Harold

Uncle Harold,
I can’t remember exactly when I knew I had an Uncle Harold, I suppose I would be around four or five years old which is sixty four years ago. I remember a very strong, athletic man who would play any sport or game with me and always with a laugh and a joke. The Davies related family grew bigger as the years went on. Saturday evening tea round the table at Nana and Grandad’s in Formby, Christmas’s and family holidays in Abersoch, big parties in small living and dining rooms. Uncle Harold was always central to the fun and games leading from the front, never taking a back seat when it came to making sure we were having good time.
I have had the unique experience of seeing Uncle Harold from a completely different perspective. He was one of my teachers at Coronation Road School in Crosby. Uncle Harold was an accomplished artist and he taught, amongst other subjects, art classes at the school; I didn’t realize at the time that he was one of the major contributors to my love of drawing and design. I eventually found a career in design that has given me enormous satisfaction and my family so much to be grateful for.
Despite the considerable distance between Calgary, the UK and Holland, and over the many years, I have been able to keep in touch with Harold, Olwyn, Jane, Stephen and feel closer than ever to the Parr and Burke families. Our last visit to Calgary was in March 2020. Uncle Harold was fit and spritely with the same quick wit and caring attitude that I have known for more than sixty years.
I know that I am not alone in saying I will miss him, but to me he was Uncle Harold, the only one I had because there could never be another like him. I will miss a big man with a big heart, a big sense of humor, a man who will leave a big hole to fill; my Uncle Harold.
To Aunty Olwyn, Jane, Ron and Ethan, Stephen and Diane. All our love from the McKechnies in Holland.

We mourn the loss of Harold, our colleague, leader, mentor and friend.
As a rookie administrator, Harold guided and encouraged me, and provided a consummate example of high standards and deep knowledge. I will always remember his school visits when, not yet armed with a laptop, he would know our staff of thirty as if our school was his only responsibility. He then found time to talk to everyone, providing the insight which made his schools so successful. Pam, as a kindergarten teacher, found Harold's child focused ethos professionally encouraging.
After his retirement it was our pleasure to know Harold and Olwyn as friends. We were then often reminded that his commitment to his staff was simply an extension of his commitment to family, and 'just the way Harold was'!

A Gentle man in every sense of the word. It is with great sadness that we read of Uncle Harold's passing. I remember him from a very early age when the "Parrs" lived next door to us in Formby Merseyside. Every time they came back to the UK to visit they would call in on my mum and dad and we would all gather to reminisce. It was great when we visited Calgary in 2019 we were welcomed by Harold, Olwyn, Jane (Ron), Stephen (Diane) and Ethan to a lovely gathering at their home. Distance has separated us but our hearts are broken that he has passed RIP. Our thoughts prayers and memories are with Aunty Olwyn, Jane (Ron), Stephen(Diane) and Ethan. We had been looking forward to planning another visit to Canada in the near future but it will be with sadness in our hearts that we will never meet with Uncle Harold again. God Bless and Rest in Peace xxx

I was extremely fortunate to have been a teacher and administrator in Rocky View School Division for the vast majority of my career. A large part of my good fortune centred around the mentors and role models I had at both the division and school levels.
Harold was without question one of those very positive influences on my teaching career and approach to administration. He had a grace and charm about him and a fond memory of mine was his keen sense of humour and no hesitancy to generously laugh, as he served as Assistant Superintendant and later as Superintendant. This allowed others to feel comfortable in meetings and share openly.
He and his divisional colleagues, many of whom are featured in this photo, played important parts in the careers of hundreds of Rocky View teaching and support staff.
With one phone call, Harold agreed to take an active part in what I thought was an amusing little roasting of a talented young woman on our staff in her first year of teaching. Admittedly, like most of my jokes, it went a little off the rails, but he supported me through the ditch.
My sincere condolences to Mrs. Parr, his children and extended family in this most difficult time..

Oh the memories I have of Harold. Just a true gentleman. He was an integral part of Valley Ridge golf club. He scared everyone one day taking a golf ball to the head but thankfully he was only bruised. I know he will be sorely missed by his family and his many golf friends and others. Liz Mcphail

Sorry, thought I sent something yesterday but don’t see it so will forward this.
We just wanted to express our sincere condolences to Olwyn, Jane and Stephen. Harold was a special man and will be truly missed. He was both a Mentor and friend and was the person I always tried to emulate as an administrator with Rocky View School Division. Harold always represented both himself and the Division with both dignity and integrity and as a leader he did make a lasting impact on the System. Both Sherri and I enjoyed his company and we will cherish our memories of our time with him. To all his family please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Don and Sherri Ross
