Obituary of Satish Gaur

Satish Gaur of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the age of 80 years.
Satish was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India on June 6, 1941.
On May 6,1962, he married Madhu Bala Sharma. Satish was a proud Canadian who emigrated from Bombay in 1967, after working at Atomic Energy, to accept a position as a glass technologist with the University of Calgary’s chemistry department.
Since Satish and Madhu were amongst the first wave of Indian immigrants to the Calgary area, they were able to form beautiful friendships within the Indian community that have lasted to this day. Satish was a lover of sports including badminton, tennis, cricket, and Stampede wrestling. He was also a self-proclaimed foodie who enjoyed trying out new restaurants around town.
He was an avid traveller, collecting souvenirs from all over the world. Some of his favourite places being China, Brazil, UAE, the Netherlands, France, England, and Hawaii. In Fact, he loved travelling so much that he opened his own travel agency, Galaxy Travel.
Madhu and Satish proudly raised three children: daughters, Mona (Tony) and Priya (Anil), and son, Monty (Stacey). He was also a loving grandfather to “the magnificent seven”; Manisha, Neha, Rohan, Kurrun, Sahil, Rishi and Sia. Satish is also survived by his beloved brother, Narendra Gaur, who resides in Ghaziabad, India
Funeral Services will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street NW, (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at 2:00 PM. Condolences, memories and photos can be shared and viewed here
Those attending will be asked to confirm one of the following, (A) COVID vaccination (date requested), OR (B) a negative COVID test (within 72 hours), OR (C) Medical exemption AND valid government identification (with name & date of birth) OR (D) Under 12 years of age. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join via livestream (see below) on teh day of the service.
