Wayne and Daria...My thoughts are with the two of you at this time. Janis and I taught together at Bow Valley College and we shared our love for fitness and travel when ever we got together. I did not realize that she had become ill.
It seemed like no matter where each of us landed, we always seemed to cross paths somewhere. Wayne, you were my hairdresser so many years ago. I hope her passing was quiet and peaceful.
Please reach out if you would like. I hope you and Daria are doing OK.

Janice was my principal while I worked as a Kindergarten teacher both at Patrick Airlie and at Keeler before her retirement from CBE. She was the light of my work life during the time we spent together, always an ally to any project or undertaking I could imagine. I always appreciated her kind, caring nature, and the way she took her time to really listen, and how she trusted the capacity of those around her; she really seemed to know that her job as a leader was simply to pave the way for others to do their best work, and she was so inspiring in that (and so many other) regards. She counselled me through many tough situations, and I will be forever grateful for her presence and guidance in my life. Janice always brought curiosity, light and hope to our conversations, and my heart is better for having had her in it.

Dear Daria and Wayne,
A lovely celebration of a life well lived. Janice was my daughter’s 6th grade teacher at Ranchlands when we first moved to Calgary. I do not recall seeing Janice without a big smile and a twinkle in her eye. May your fondest memories sustain you during this very difficult time.

I have just returned home from a delightful gathering today honoring a thoroughly beautiful individual...Janice! Thank you all who worked together to pull this off. I was one of several from Ranchlands (Community) School who was able to attend and be among the cross section of those who were in Janice's life.
In Gratitude.

I am shocked and saddened to hear about Janice's passing. I did not realize she had been ill the pass few years. Daria thank you for finding me to too let me know.
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to teach with Janice at Ranchlands School before leaving Calgary. We had so much fun doing creative dance programs with our students under Janice guidance. Daria I also have fond memories with you and my sons, Andrew and Mitch, after school!
I am so glad I got to see both of you a few years ago in Vancouver. Janice was so so happy with her life and career moves at that time.
Janice was beautiful inside and out. A talented lady that had so much to give and left us too soon. I am honoured to have had her as my friend.

Way too soon you left us Janice. I am so glad we spent time together talking and having coffee where you told me enthusiastically about your English teaching experience for Pueblo Ingles in La Alberca, Spain. You went to Spain several times volunteering and learning Spanish. You inspired me to go to Spain and teach English there as well. This was a fantastic experience and I have you to thank for that. I have enjoyed your creative mind, your determination, your kindness and interest in the world around you, your enthusiasm and your interest in fashion. We will miss you Janice. Love, Denise

Our daughter and Daria convocated together from the U of C communication program. We lived in Saskatchewan and travelled to Alberta for her graduation ceremony and it was there that I had the pleasure of meeting Janice. She. graciously invited us over to their lovely home for a fun filled afternoon full of good conversation and a beautiful meal and drinks. Janice made us all feel so welcome, relaxed and at ease. Each time we bumped into her throughout the years - whether shopping or at the yoga studio, she always showed a genuine interest in your life and I always enjoyed listening to whatever adventure she had been on or what she was currently planning to do. My sincere condolences to you dear Daria and family ❤️

I just found out this morning, March 15th, from a former colleague of ours, this very sad news about Janice's passing.
Janice and I worked together at University Elementary School (UES) as Learning Leaders, and shared an office in the school.
I have many fond members of our work together over the years, as we both aspired to become administrators.
When Janice retired from the CBE and became a professor of Educational Assistants (EA) at Bow Valley College, I took in many of her EA students at my school, which allowed us to stay in touch.
A few years back, Janice told me she was going to slow down a bit (work part-time) and asked me if I would consider interviewing for her position at Bow Valley. I seriously contemplated it then...and even yesterday as I was pondering my upcoming retirement, prior to hearing about Janice, I was sharing with a colleague how I would love to work with Janice at Bow Valley College.
I am very saddened and my heart aches for Janice's family.
Love to you all.

The year I started at Connaught School as a teacher was Janice's first year at Connaught as A.P. Starting a new school was initially very intimidating for me at first but she joyously embraced the newness and not knowing all of the answers. She took the time to learn as well as teach-learn about the students, the community, and the staff. Whenever I had a question, without fail, I knew that I could go to Janice and we would figure it out. And then later, when she sent students from the EA program at Bow Valley, how amazing it was to catch up. Even though it was always brief, it would be like I had a quick blast of summer sun in the cold winter. That smile and laugh! It was infectious! Her students (and the students at our school) had that same trust in knowing that she would celebrate their learning and support them when they needed it. Her sense of adventure and enthusiasm was inspiring. I am so grateful to have had her in my life as a colleague, because I learned so much from her, and also just to have in my life such a person who experienced the joy and adventures of life. Please know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

We were saddened and shocked to hear about Janice’s passing. Janice welcomed me and took me under her wing when I started my Calgary teaching debut at Ranchlands. She took me horseback riding, had me over for lunches, took me for workouts at Heavens, was my roomie at a Community Schocl conference, supported me with my teaching by sharing her expertise in Physical Education and more! She was a mentor and a friend. Jim later connected with Janice as principals. We lost touch over the years but I saw Janice at my last school when she was observing a student EA. It was so great to see her again as we reminisced and caught up.
Janice was truly a light and welcoming soul who made a difference in so many lives. We are so sorry that Janice has been dealing with cancer. We hope she is now at peace. We would like to send our prayers and heartfelt condolences to Daria and all of the family ❤️

My condolences to all of Janice's family.
My fondest memories of Janice are: teaching together, working out at Heaven's , practicing yoga together, and gathering at Janice's on Friday night with all our teacher friends. Janice was a beautiful soul, kind, smart, and always offered encouragement to everyone.
The photo you chose really demonstrates the passion and joy of life that Janice portrayed with her beautiful smile.
I will miss her dearly

From yoga, to food, fashion, politics, literature and travel. Janices spirit will live on.
My deepest, heartfelt, sympathy to Daria, Wayne, family and friends. The words written in this obit couldn’t ring more true. “Janice will be most remembered for her generosity and kindness, her commitment to welcoming everyone and yearning for a world that would do the same.” I will miss all of our adventures but most of all I will miss Janices ability to see through the clouds and point to the sun. May your toes sink deeply on the warm sandy beach and the sun shine reflectively on your sweet face. Always in my heart. Holly Dalgleish

Remembering Janice Holloway
We were so saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Janice. Words cannot express such a great loss of the most kindest and generous soul of life Janice was. Our deepest condolences to Wayne & family, Daria & Ryan and family, her dearest friends and anyone that had the privilege of meeting her.
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Janice via Wayne at the original Heavens Fitness location when her and Wayne first started dating. Over the years we have all shared lovely dinners together and she provided the sweetest chats during my hair appointments with Wayne. I’ll never forget when she surprised us with a video of our wedding capturing all of the perfect moments. When our daughter was born, Janice and I had several chats about grade school and to find the best and most suitable for our family. She will be dearly missed and will always be cherished. Janice, thank you for your words of wisdom and precious time.
*The attached amazing photo of Wayne & Janice was taken on August 26, 2011 at our wedding.
