Obituary of Irene Cairns

Irene Cairns, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at the age of 104 years.
Irene met and married Robert Cairns, a Canadian sailor, during WWII, and bravely immigrated to Calgary, AB, Canada, after the war. Here Irene raised her four children with love and dedication. When widowed at a relatively young age, she ventured into the workforce, where she proved herself to be capable, competent, and resourceful. Irene loved to dance, dress stylishly, decorate her home, and provide patient, loving care, to her family members and community. The secrets to her longevity include gratitude, dancing, and vegetables.
Irene was predeceased by her husband Robert Cairns, her daughter Wendy, her parents, and her many siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Elaine Palm, and Beverley Scobie; and son Robert (Jane) Cairns.
A Private Memorial will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be held in Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
