We have known Olga for many years and have never met a more kind and generous soul. I remember her as talented, creative and energetic. Always ready to help out whenever she could and never expecting anything in return. She was a true champion to her former students, her family and friends and to her community.
To you, Olga, we raise a glass in memory of a life well lived and to a happy journey hereafter.

To say Olga was just a pal would be a bit of an understatement. When I met her over forty years ago at a very low point in my life she became my mom, my granny, my aunt, my sister, my confidante and my most treasured friend. She was such a beautiful soul, so full of love and acceptance and always ready to offer a helping hand, some sound advice, a friendly smile or a welcome hug. She was an inspiring leader as assistant principal at Killarney School and a compassionate teacher to her class of first graders.
Her talents were amazing: creating baby quilts and porcelain dolls, crocheting afghans, knitting toques and mittens, and sewing with exquisite precision everything under the sun. It isn't any wonder that year after year her creative efforts won awards at the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.
For me she created a one-of-a-kind wedding dress and hat, some sixty crocheted baskets for the mints on my reception table, a rag doll called Candy Mint Cindy, a black robed porcelain doll complete with a bouquet of roses for my university graduation, a beautiful afghan and a framed needlepoint for my wedding with the advice "Love, Honour and Negotiate". Everywhere I look in my home, I see reminders of my thoughtful and generous friend.
I remember our many outings, especially her eightieth birthday party and our eighty-fifth and ninetieth birthday lunches. Every year after she and my friend Cathie became besties, we met to celebrate out birthdays which were only mere weeks apart. Olga and I often went shopping, out for lunch, to Kenny Rogers' concerts, and to Bowness Park for a picnic. She showed me her unlimited kindness when I wasn't feeling well. She invited me to spend a weekend at her home where she treated me to a delicious dinner, breakfast in bed and a sticky-chewy chocolate shake on the way home.
I will never forget this wonderful woman who had such a huge impact on my life. These memories and more are the incredible gifts she has left me. She was such a unique person and I will forever be proud to call her my friend. Rest in peace my dear Olga. Till we meet again.
Love - your BFF. Hi (Olga's name for me).
Our sincerest sympathy to the family,

We all want to send our sincere condolences to Debbie’s family and Nancy’s family. We will always miss our good friend and Grandma O. We have so many memories.
I first met Olga when she came to Killarney school as my Assistant Principal. We quickly became fast friends. When I went on maternity leave, she and the other female teachers on staff took me out for dinner. We had always referred to the fetus as “Bozo”. Olga took me aside and in all seriousness said, “I think you should consider other names.” I laughed and told her that we did actually have “real” names picked out. Olga gifted us with a beautiful pink crib quilt for Lindsey when she was born. When David was still a baby and was sick, he grabbed the quilt and from then on it was known as David’s pink blanket. Pink blanket showed up at David’s wedding and Olga was there to see it heralded once again. She was there for every birthday, anniversary, graduation, Christmas and wedding. When Ted was nearing the end of his cancer journey, Olga offered to help show Ted and David how they could contribute to the sewing of a wedding quilt we were making for my niece, whom Olga knew. Of course, Olga’s name is on that quilt along with the rest of our family! She was Grandma O to my grandchildren and Brynne has Justina as part of her name, in honour of Olga. She came to many of David’s lacrosse games and then became a regular at the Roughnecks with us. We will always remember how much she shared with us and cared for us. May you Rest In Peace, Olga.
Love Mary, Lindsey, Craig, Brynne, Evie, Benson, David, Megan and Mae.

Dear Debra, Nancy and families,
We are very saddened to hear of the passing of our great Auntie O. We have numerous fond memories of our many times together. Her kindness and generosity to our family through the years was much appreciated and will never be forgotten. Her humour and wit will be dearly missed.

So sorry to read of Miss Wohlgemuth’s passing. She was one of my elementary school teachers at Rideau Park School in the late 1950’s and made a lasting impression and impact on my life. Sincere condolences.

So sorry to hear about the passing of your Auntie. She was my 2nd grade teacher at Sunnyside Elementary school and obviously made an impression if I remember her all these years later. Imagine my surprise when I started working as a Public health Nurse and she was a teacher at one of my schools! She made me a lovely quilt for my second child ( which we still have 42 years later). She was a wonderful caring person. Sharon Banning ( nee Richardson).
