Obituary of Norman Herbert Parson

Norm Parson of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at Clifton House on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the age of 93 years.

Norm was born in Revelstoke, BC, to parents, Cecil Parson and Edel Myrthu, on February 14, 1930. Shortly after, Norm and the family moved back to Golden where he was raised. After high school, he worked as a tow and logging truck driver around Golden. In the early 1950s, Norm moved to Calgary, AB, where he found work as an automotive mechanic at Fowley Motors. Here he met the love of his life Betty Jarvis, originally from Victoria, BC, and in 1956 they married and raised two daughters, Margaret and Karen. Just before their marriage, Norm got a position as an automotive instructor at SAIT, where he worked until retirement in 1989. Besides automobiles, Norm was a talented woodworker and loved camping, especially during retirement when he and Betty would travel to the Oregon Coast each fall. A gentle kind hearted man with an easy smile. 

Norm was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Betty Parson (nee Jarvis), and leaves behind his daughters, Margaret Parson, and Karen (Boz) Crnkovic; granddaughters, Tegan (James) Pym-Hember, and Nicole (Kyle) Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Felix, and Quinn Pym-Hember.
