BARWISE, Christopher William

October 30, 1983 - Calgary, Alberta

May 4, 2023 -  Edmonton Alberta

Christopher Barwise of Edmonton, AB, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the age of 39 years.

Chris was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on October 30th, 1983. He later moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 2017.

Chris attended James Fowler High School in Calgary where he began many of his lifelong friendships and would take on the nickname of “Juicy”, which many of his friends still call him today.

He would later obtain his GED and complete a variety of Business classes at Mount Royal College and Bow Valley College, which he took a lot of pride in. Chris considered himself a lifelong student, always looking for new and exciting topics to learn about and share.

Though Chris never married, he held the hearts of everyone around him for his extraordinary ability to connect with people wherever he went. He was an incredibly open-minded, generous, and charismatic person, with friends from all walks of life.

Unfortunately, Chris ran into significant health issues early in adulthood and would struggle to overcome them for the remainder of his life. He would come to inspire many of us as he accepted his challenges, and continued to build a life for himself.

Chris was known for many things such as his love of old-school techno, emerging technologies, and how to have a good time no matter the circumstances. He spent so much time creating colourful and lively memories at raves, camping, and all kinds of adventures, that the term was coined; “For the love of Juicy”.

Chris will be most remembered for his smile, his laugh, and his mischievous and loving nature. He was fiercely loyal to those who accepted him for his colourful personality and was always grateful for the relationships he built. Including his friends’ children who lovingly referred to him as Uncle Chris.

Besides his many friends and companions, Chris is survived by his grandmother and grandfather, Shirley and Ralph Barwise of Nanaimo, BC, mother and father, Beverly and Rick Barwise of Hopkins, Belize, Central America, his one brother and sister-in-law, David and Nichole Barwise of Calgary, AB, his fur-babies, Lucifurr and Sebastian; as well as five cousins, one niece, two nephews, two cousin-nephews and many aunties and uncles whom all miss him dearly.

Chris was predeceased by his grandmother and grandfather, Viola and John Tarnowski, and his Uncle, Fred Babott, of Calgary, AB.

Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery, 3219 4th St. NW, Calgary, at the section G columbarium (just down the main road from the 4th St entrance) on the 2nd of June, 2023 at 3 pm.

Parking is available along the cemetery road, as well as the cemetery parking lot and the Calgary Crematorium and Funeral Services parking lot.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed in his Tribute Book (link below). Family and friends would be thankful for any contributions.
