Obituary of Om Parkash Makhija

Om Parkash Makhija, beloved husband of Neelam Makhija of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the age of 76 years.
Om was born in Nurpur, (United India) to a wonderful mom and dad. He was only three years old when his dad passed away. His mom (Biji) raised her two kids alone and went through many struggles during that time.
At the age of nineteen, he moved to Chandigarh with a good job and also brought his Biji along. He went through all the hurdles of life and managed to support his elders without any hesitation.
Om Parkash married Neelam in 1972. He enjoyed a passion for gardening and was always ready to help everyone, always.
Om Parkash’s most memorable moments were when he would laugh and say ‘aau, aau’.
He will be most remembered for his contagious laughter and “I am ready” attitude.
Besides his loving wife, Om Parkash is survived by his son Gaurav and daugter-in-law Rupika; grandsons Avi, and Arin; daughter Nidhi and son-in-law Arun Dhawan; and granddaughters Arshia & Akaisha.
He is also survived by his sister Mohinder Gogia in Delhi, India as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at Calgary Crematorium Chapel, (3219 – 4th Street NW, within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Sunday, June, 11, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
