Ladies and gentlemen,
Today, we gather here to remember and honor a remarkable man, my father, Ronald Seamans of Calgary. As his 68-year-old son, I stand before you to share the impact my father had on our lives and the legacy he leaves behind.
Ronald Seamans was not just an ordinary man; he was a small business owner who started from humble beginnings as a lowly delivery driver. He possessed a vision and an entrepreneurial spirit that propelled him to create his own business. Little did he know the ripple effect his endeavor would have on his family and friends.
Growing up on a farm in Caster, Alberta, my father understood the value of hard work and the importance of staying grounded. His perspective was not one of a worldly and wise man, but rather that of a person of the land, someone who saw through embellishments and window dressings. He had a remarkable ability to cut through the noise and identify the core of any issue or problem.
One of the lessons my father taught me was the power of focusing on the basics. I remember when he coached an ice hockey team; his approach was simple yet effective. He believed in getting the players to do the basics brilliantly. And it worked. The team flourished under his guidance, achieving success and victories.
