Les "Biff" Bird has died after a long struggle with emphysema.
Predeceased by his parents John and Elsie, brother Robert, and sister Stephanie, he is survived by his wife Marlene, daughter Gaylene (Ted), son David (Amanda), and grandson Brandon.
A passionate teacher who put his students first, Les devoted his 36-year career to adult education until his sudden retirement in 2001 from Bow Valley College (formerly AVC).
The family is grateful to the staff of the ICU and units 93&94 at Rockyview General Hospital for their compassionate care over the past 7 months.
A service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home (1708 16 Ave NW) on Thursday July 31st at 11 am.
Donations to the Calgary COPD and Asthma Program are welcome.
